African Women in Maritime (WIMAFRICA) has been thrown into mourning following the demise of one of its amiable members, Dame Ngozi Obikili.
A former Continental President of WIMAFRICA, Mrs. Jean-Chiazor Anishere (SAN) revealed this in a statement sent to News Diet, today.
Anishere described Obikili as an effervescent member of WIMAFRICA, especially at the Nigeria chapter where she participated actively in the group’s activities.
“WIMAFRICA mourns one of her dynamic and amiable members, Dame Ngozi Obikili. She was an effervescent member of WIMAFRICA, Nigeria chapter,” Anishere said.
Until her demise on Wednesday, Ngozi Obikili was the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Planning Division at Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
“Her contributions remain an indelible reference point in the annals of the Authority and her global trade facilitation efforts,” NPA stated on its official twitter handle.
Obikili was fondly called the ‘Great Trade Facilitator’. While NPA mourns, MMS Hall of Fame is also in pains as Obikili was a United Nations Amazon in the hall of fame family.

Exactly a week ago, I lost a dearest friend, a professional colleague The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport International CILT-Nigeria Pharm.Mrs Ngozi Stella Obikili a General Manager Nigerian Ports Authority . It was sad and tragic. We were together on the Day 1 of CILT Conference last week Tuesday. We chatted through Wednesday and we lost her same Wednesday. She promised to call me on Wednesday night but alas she left this sinful World that same night. She was indeed my partner in progress though our friendship was for short period but very impactful. May Almighty Lord grant her eternal rest.
