The National Executive Council of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) has commenced a seven-day strategic retreat and familiarisation (fam) trip in Ghana aimed at strengthening tourism partnerships and boosting travel business between Nigeria and Ghana.
Hosted by Safari World, the visit brings together NANTA’s leadership for a series of business engagements, destination tours and cultural exchange programmes designed to translate regional tourism cooperation into tangible commercial opportunities.
Speaking during the reception of the delegation at Safari World Homes in Accra, Chairman of the Safari World Group, Ernest Gyekye, welcomed the Nigerian travel executives and assured them of a memorable experience throughout their stay.
NANTA President, Yinka Folami, described the retreat as a strategic initiative to deepen collaboration among African travel stakeholders and expand the association’s cross-border tourism advocacy.
“This mission is not a leisure trip,” Folami said. “It is a deliberate effort to strengthen our marketing advocacy for Nigerian travel brands beyond our borders.”
He noted that Nigeria and Ghana share longstanding historical, cultural and economic ties that provide a strong foundation for increased tourism cooperation.
“The future of African tourism cannot be built in silos. This retreat is about moving from policy to practice by creating real products, real partnerships and increased movement of travellers between Accra and Lagos,” he added.
During the week-long programme, the NANTA executives will participate in business-to-business (B2B) meetings with Ghanaian tourism operators, inspect key tourism facilities and engage in cultural exchange activities aimed at expanding destination offerings for Nigerian travellers.
The delegation will tour Safari World’s flagship destinations, including Safari Homes in Accra, Aqua Safari and Safari Island Cruise in Ada, as well as the Safari Valley Eco Resort and Safari Eco Park in Dawu.
Operating under the theme, “One World, Three Destinations, Over 20 Unique Experiences,” Safari World is leveraging the visit to strengthen its footprint in the Nigerian travel market while positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for leisure, conferences, family holidays, group travel and premium tourism experiences.
A key event during the visit will be the Executive Dinner scheduled for July 21 at Safari Valley Eco Resort, where leading tourism stakeholders from both countries are expected to discuss strategies for expanding bilateral tourism and travel trade.
The familiarisation trip is expected to provide NANTA’s leadership with firsthand knowledge of Ghana’s tourism offerings, paving the way for stronger destination marketing, innovative travel packages and deeper partnerships that will encourage more Nigerians to explore Ghana as a tourism destination.
