President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has received the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, at the State House, Abuja, where he was briefed on developments in Nigeria’s maritime sector, including progress recorded by the Agency and challenges confronting the industry.

During the meeting, Mobereola presented an update on NIMASA’s activities over the past two years, highlighting key developments within the Agency and issues requiring sustained government attention to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The NIMASA Director General’s briefing formed the central focus of the meeting, as the President reviewed the progress made in the sector alongside the challenges affecting its growth and contribution to the national economy.

President Tinubu subsequently reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the continuous development of Nigeria’s maritime industry, stressing that the creation of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy was a deliberate policy initiative to position the sector as a stronger contributor to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The President commended NIMASA for the progress recorded so far and charged Mobereola and his management team to sustain the momentum, urging them not to rest on their oars in driving reforms and advancing the nation’s maritime interests.
