- commends Tinubu for creating Marine and Blue Economy Ministry
YoungShip Nigeria, an association of young maritime professionals, has applauded the appointment of 41-year old Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
The group made this commendation in a statement issued yesterday, signed by its National Chairman, Mr. Shehu Popoola-Taiwo.
YoungShip Nigeria also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating a special ministry to cater for maritime via the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
Part of the statement read; “We specially thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for yielding to the call of stakeholders, especially experts who have stressed the need for a distinct ministry for maritime affairs. The creation of Marine and Blue Economy Ministry is an indication that the Tinubu-led administration is prioritizing the maritime sector and the results will be significant growth leading to massive economic benefits and better Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contributions from maritime.”

Describing Tunji-Ojo’s appointment as a testament to his remarkable dedication and exceptional leadership qualities, the young professional body wished the new Minister success even as it pledged its support and partnership.
“With this development, the nation has set its sight on harnessing the potential of marine resources. YoungShip Nigeria is confident that Honourable Ojo’s guidance will lead towards a vibrant and thriving blue economy,” the group said.
YoungShip Nigeria (YSN) was established in 2017, and it is principally a meeting place for young people working in maritime related businesses such as ship design, shipyards, equipment suppliers, finance, maritime lawyers, brokerage, operations and shipowners, among others.
