Shippers’ Association Lagos State (SALS) has unveiled its electoral guidelines and slated its national election for October 10, 2024 in a bid to bequeath the association a new leadership.
SALS disclosed this in a statement made available to News Diet on Friday, signed by the Chairman of Electoral Committee (SASECO), Pastor Jonah Amata.
According to the statement, the group will also hold its Annual General Meeting and an electronically conducted election for new executive officers on the same day.
The Electoral Committee Chairman, Amata, announced that the offices to be contested in the election are; President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary. Others are Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer (and Social Welfare Officer.
Amata equally disclosed that only the 53 registered members of the association would be eligible to participate as the election form is still on for collection till 27th September, 2024
He, however, noted that electorates and candidates must collect and submit nomination forms, get letter of approval of nomination of the representative by company, tender receipt of payment of annual membership dues to date and present certificate of membership of SALS.
The statement also directed would-be contestants to contact Pastor Amata and Mrs. Ngozi Modebelu, who is also a member of Election Committee for other inquiries.
Meanwhile, the group noted that any dispute pertaining to or arising from the election would be resolved by a one man arbitration panel, within 15 days from date of election.
Propective contestants are encouraged to visit the association’s secretariat located at the headquarters of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) in Apapa, Lagos, to obtain forms or seek further information.
