Owu Youths Set For Grand Odun Omo Olowu 2025 Celebration

The youth of Owu Kingdom are set to take the centre stage in Abeokuta on Monday, October 20, 2025, as the Owu Youth Forum (OYF) rolls out a day-long lineup of cultural, intellectual, and networking events to herald this year’s Odun Omo Olowu festival.

The activities, organized under the reign of His Royal Majesty, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo, Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu, will feature three major highlights – the Woro Horse-Ride Procession, a Youth Development Symposium, and the Night of Icons (Asale Awon Akoni).

According to the organisers, the events are aimed at strengthening inter-generational bonds, promoting youth engagement, and celebrating Owu’s rich heritage under the visionary leadership of the Olowu.

The day will open at noon with the Woro Horse-Ride Procession, a colourful cultural display that will see representatives from various Owu townships mount their horses and ride through major routes before paying homage to the monarch at his palace. The symbolic procession will mark the official commencement of the week-long Odun Omo Olowu festivities.

By 3:00 p.m., attention will shift to the Youth Symposium themed “From Roots to Rise”, with a focus on “The Role of Youth in Development.” The forum will feature accomplished Owu sons and daughters, seasoned speakers, and young professionals discussing practical ways to drive progress across social, economic, and cultural sectors in line with the Olowu’s development vision for the kingdom.

The day will climax with the Night of Icons at Oba Odeleye Park, Ori-Omi, Sokori, Abeokuta, where young people will interact with successful Owu indigenes who have excelled in leadership, culture, entertainment, and business. The evening will feature live performances, panel sessions, and awards recognizing individuals and youth contributing meaningfully to Owu’s growth.

Speaking on behalf of the Pioneer President of the Owu Youth Forum, Hon. Olawale Olajumoke, the committee expressed gratitude to Oba Matemilola for his unwavering support and commitment to youth empowerment.

“This celebration is more than culture; it is a bridge between our roots and our rise. It is about unity, mentorship, and building a stronger Owu for future generations,” the statement read.

The organisers also commended committee members, sponsors, and volunteers for their efforts in making the event a reality, inviting all sons, daughters, and friends of Owu Kingdom to join in the celebration.

“Come with your energy, ideas, and ambition,” the Forum urged. “Together, we will ride, learn, connect, and rise.”
