The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) has inaugurated the Kaduna Chapter to drive corporate governance across the geopolitical zones of the country.
Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo, President, ICSAN, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
Ekundayo said the Kaduna State Chapter inauguration reflected ICSAN’s deference to federal character and pluralistic nature of Nigeria’s demography.
She said the development was in view of the fact that the institute had people’s representation from diverse geo-political regions and was also in the spirit of diversity, inclusion and equity.
“I am immensely happy to inaugurate the Kaduna Chapter as the eight chapter (in a state capital) of our dear institute today, as we have not until now been able have a permanent base in form of a chapter in Northern Nigeria.
“I charge the leadership of new chapter to face their duties and responsibilities with dedication and commitment with which Chartered Secretaries are obligated to perform their roles.
“They should not only also carry members along in their governance and policies implementation but also strive to lead with principles, discipline, transparency and disclosure and sincerity of purpose which ICSAN brand is reputed for,” she said.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Tijjani Mohammed, Chairman, Kaduna state chapter, ICSAN, said the chapter would work closely with the national body to ensure that its presence is registered in all states of Northern Nigeria.
This, he said, was critical to deepening corporate governance practices penetration in organisations all across the northern part of the country.
“To members of the chapter, we thank you for the confidence reposed in us and we assure you of our resolve to work for the chapter with outmost vigor.
“We promise to promote the Institute within Kaduna state and beyond to a greater height,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that ICSAN is a leading recognised professional body in Nigeria dedicated to enhancing the status and practice of corporate governance and public administration.
