The Nigerian Navy (NN) Firemen, a sub-unit of Naval Headquarters Garki Abuja, have averted an inferno at UTC Shopping Plaza in Garki, Abuja.
This was done yesterday in collaboration with men of the Federal Fire Service.
According to eyewitness reports, an electric spark in one of the plaza shops ignited the fire outbreak with the potential to consume many other shops & properties.
However, as the fire surged, the NN Fire men were called in to assist the Federal Fire Service (FFS) men and the National Defence College (NDC) Fire Service in fighting the flames.
On arrival, the NN FireMen swung into action, and the situation was brought under control. No life was lost, and the damage to the properties was limited.
