
The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) is set to hold a maiden chess tournament, a landmark event that brings together young chess talents from both primary and secondary schools across Lagos State.
This exciting initiative of the Institute is proudly organized in collaboration with Dynamic Chess Ville.
According to a statement by the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Institute, Mrs. Taiwo Olusesi, the tournament billed to take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Management House, Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, promises an inspiring blend of competition, learning, and fun for our future leaders.
Speaking on the essence of the competition, Olusesi said that “the tournament is designed to promote inclusivity and nurture key life skills such as strategic thinking, discipline, and sportsmanship through the game of chess.
It offers a unique platform for young learners to challenge themselves intellectually, interact with peers from other schools, and gain exposure to a competitive, yet supportive environment”.
The Registrar further revealed that the one-day, closed tournament which seeks to foster spirit of healthy competition, empower young minds and celebrate intellectual excellence, has Dynamic Chess Ville, a Chess association and Chess in the Slums Foundation providing professional support at the event.
Olusesi who added that many primary and secondary schools have registered to participate in the tournament said trophies, medals, cash and other consolatory prizes will be won at the event while the participating schools will receive certificate of participation.
