The energy and creativity of Nigerian youths took the spotlight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) in collaboration with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), staged a vibrant “Service in Motion” flash mob to commemorate this year’s Customer Service Week.

The captivating activation, driven by NIHOTOUR trainees and young FAAN personnel, transformed the busy airport terminal into a lively showcase of music, movement, and national pride reflecting the power of youth-led innovation in redefining service excellence across Nigeria’s public institutions.

“This performance is more than entertainment; it’s a message,” said Dr. Abisoye Fagade, Director-General of NIHOTOUR.

“Our young people are the heartbeat of Nigeria’s hospitality identity. Through their creativity, we are reimagining what service means; not just as a job, but as a national culture built on warmth, respect, and excellence.”

The flash mob drew enthusiastic applause from travelers and airport staff, many of whom joined in the excitement. Within hours, videos of the performance went viral across social media platforms, attracting widespread praise for celebrating Nigerian youth, culture, and service in a refreshing new light.

The Abuja Airport activation embodies the spirit of the Federal Ministry of Tourism’s service transformation agenda aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Vision, which prioritizes innovation, youth inclusion, and excellence in government service delivery.

Under Dr. Fagade’s leadership, NIHOTOUR has emerged as a hub of youth empowerment; training young Nigerians in hospitality, digital skills, and customer service. The “Service in Motion” campaign highlights how creative engagement can inspire national pride and reshape the image of public service.

Speaking on the collaboration, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of FAAN, praised NIHOTOUR’s initiative and reaffirmed FAAN’s commitment to continuous service improvement.

“Customer service is the heartbeat of aviation, and today’s youth-driven celebration reminds us that every smile, every act of courtesy, is a reflection of our national character,” she stated.

NIHOTOUR continues to champion professionalism and creativity across Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality landscape from culinary arts and hotel management to customer service certification.

The Abuja flash mob stands as a symbol of youth empowerment, optimism, and unity – proof that Nigeria’s young generation can lead the charge in transforming public service delivery through innovation, collaboration, and pride in national identity.
