The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has advised its over 50,000 members across the country against getting involved either remotely or directly in the impending national protests.
Speaking in Lagos on Monday, NAGAFF President, High Chief Toochukwu Ezisi, warned her numerous members and the general public to sheath give Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, more time to deliver on his electoral promises anchored on Renewed Hope.
Acknowledging that they have a right to protest as enshrined in the country’s constitution, the veteran freight forwarder stressed that the association should also note that they do not have the right to destabilise the country.
According to Ezisi, President Tinubu inherited a near comatose economy and has been doing his best since assumption of office and therefore should be supported, even as he added that the economic recession being experienced today is not peculiar to Nigeria alone.
The National President argued that sponsors and pioneers of the impending protest should positively engage the government in dialogue instead of resorting to the unconventional means of agitation that is guided by their covert ambitions.
He also warned those making unguided statements to desist from doing so, as such words have the potency of further polarising our country, even as he advised President Tinubu to quickly put measures in place to mitigate the sufferings currently being experienced in the country.
The NAGAFF President equally advocated for a drastic reduction in the cost of governance especially the affluent lifestyle of public servants and political appointees, lamenting that it heightens the dissatisfaction and disregard from Nigerian citizens.
“Government should also increase her premium on Education and Security across the country. Farmers need to win over the confidence of government so that they can return to their farms. The government in the interim should also consider reopening the land borders for massive food importation to crash the skyrocketing prices of food items.”
“The government should also ensure the drastic reduction in the prices of petroleum products. Hunger is a major issue in the land and people are cashing in on it to forment trouble,” Ezisi said.
