The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola; the Technical Adviser to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation, Dr. Segun Obayendo; and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr Kayode Opeifa are among prominent Nigerians who have confirmed their participation at the forth-coming 2026 Transportation Summit which is being hosted in Lagos by the Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN).
The summit, which has become a leading annual platform for dialogue on Nigeria’s transportation sector, will bring together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, operators, development partners, academics, and other stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for improving Nigeria’s logistic infrastructure, policy implementation, safety innovation, and sustainable development.
The summit, with the theme: ‘Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics’, will among others explore critical areas such as current state of Nigeria’s transportation logistics architecture (waterways, road, rail, Air); identify bottlenecks and solutions to seamless cargo and passenger movement and the impact of multimodal transport integration on economic expansion.
Other areas of focus are investment opportunities within the logistics and supply value chains, digital transformation in the logistic value chain, the challenges of infrastructure financing and public-private partnerships opportunities.
TCAN Chairman, Mr. Tola Adenubi disclosed that stakeholders will also examine regulatory frameworks necessary to optimize the sector and recommend policies to enhance efficiency and global competitiveness at the gathering.
He affirmed that the confirmation of participation by the Honourable Minister, Vice Presidential Aide on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation; and the NRC Managing Director reflects the federal government’s commitment to engaging stakeholders and promoting reforms aimed at transforming Nigeria’s transportation sector.
The Honourable Minister is expected to deliver a keynote address outlining the Federal Government’s logistic agenda, ongoing reforms, infrastructure investments, and policies designed to enhance inter-modal connectivity at the nations ports, improve efficiency of the nations logistic chain, and stimulate economic growth.
On his part, the Technical Adviser on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation to the Vice President Kashim Shettima; Dr. Segun Obayendo will dissect the nations transportation sector and highlight the reforms and gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as it impacts on the nations transportation and logistic sector.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa will speak on the progress recorded in the nation’s railway modernization programme, operational improvements, rail safety, passenger and freight services, and the corporation’s role in supporting national economic development.
Speaking on the significance of their participation, the TCAN Chairman said “We are delighted that the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, the Technical Adviser on Transportation and Logistic to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Segun Obayendo, and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa have accepted our invitation to participate in the 2026 TCAN Summit.

The 2026 TCAN Summit will also feature keynote presentations from government agencies, stakeholdets in the transportation/logistic sub-sector, and networking opportunities focused on strengthening collaboration while addressing critical issues affecting road, rail, maritime, aviation, and multimodal transportation in Nigeria.
The body added that it will also honour stakeholders who have contributed to the development of the country’s transport sector in its compendium tagged ‘Champion of Transport Industry Development’ at the summit slated to hold on 24th September at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
