Comptroller Nnadi, Sanwo-Olu, Others Receive NDLEA ‘Drug Anti-Smuggling’ Award

…As Buba-Marwa commissions ultra-modern NDLEA facility

Following an impressive record in combating illicit drugs importation at the Tin Can Island Port (TCIP), the Customs Area Controlller of TCIP, Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, has been honoured with a special recognition award from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The award was presented to Comptroller Nnadi by the Chief Executive/ Chairman of the NDLEA, Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd) during the commissioning of the ultra-modern office facility of the NDLEA at the Eko Atlantic City Victoria Lagos, on Wednesday.

Other award recipients at the occasion were; Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary of Lagos State Government, Barrister Bola Salu-Hundeyin, the UK High Commissioner in Nigeria and the Managing Director of Eko Atlantic City, Mr. Ronald Chagoury

The newly commissioned building was donated to the NDLEA by the United Kindgom Drug Enforcement Agency.

According to the NDLEA boss, the TCIP Customs Area Controller has distinguished himself with sterling work in the fight against drug importation in Nigeria through the seaport.

News Diet recalls that Comptroller Nnadi has been instrumental to high profile seizure of illicit substances at TCIP including the interception of two containers laden with cocaine and one laden with heroine all shipped from South Africa.

Other recent seizures made by the TCIP Customs Command include; the 1072kg of Canadian loud seized in one swoop which represents the biggest single seizure of Cannabis Indica at any seaport in Nigeria.

Recall that few months ago, the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, was at Tin Can Island Port to unveil the intercepted illicit drugs and psychoactive substance worth N4.1billion imported from India and Canada.

NDLEA Boss, General Marwa equally used the occasion to applaud the synergy between NCS and NDLEA and advocated for more of such collaboration in a bid to further strengthen the fight against smuggling and attain other mutually beneficial goals.

Participants at the occasion also witnessed the display of the diving and retrieval capacity of NDLEA marine officers who demonstrated their expertise to the guests.
