Founder, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, speaking at the launch of NNPP in Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency in Lagos on Saturday.

Founder of the party, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, said the NNPP provides a platform for inclusive governance and responsive leadership, particularly for communities that have long been underserved despite their economic significance.

He noted that the Ajeromi-Ifelodun axis, home to major port activities generating billions in revenue, has not proportionately benefited from its contributions to the national economy.

“If you don’t have someone representing you at the decision-making level, meaningful change becomes difficult. That is what NNPP brings; a representation that cares and addresses real issues affecting the people and their environment,” Aniebonam said.

He urged residents to actively participate in the political process, emphasising issue-based campaigns and cautioning aspirants against divisive rhetoric. According to him, the party’s steady growth since inception is rooted in its values and grassroots appeal.

The NNPP Lagos Assembly Aspirant for Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency II, Dr. Chukwuemeka Iwegbuna Omenma, declaring his ambition during NNPP’s launch in Ajeromi Ifelodun, Lagos on Saturday.

Declaring his candidacy, Iwegbuna said his ambition is driven by a commitment to address pressing socio-economic challenges in the constituency, including youth unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, poor access to healthcare and education, and limited economic opportunities.

The freight forwarding professional, with over three decades of experience across Nigeria’s logistics and port value chain, said his familiarity with the constituency positions him to deliver effective representation.

“Our community has enormous potential, but we must intentionally harness it. I am committed to empowering our youth and ensuring that opportunities within this environment are fully utilised,” he said.

He also decried low voter registration levels, revealing that a significant number of residents lack Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and National Identification Numbers (NIN), which he described as critical to achieving political relevance.

“I urge everyone to obtain their voter cards and necessary identification. Without this, we cannot translate our population strength into electoral success,” he added.

In her remarks, Lagos State Chairman of the NNPP, Princess Teniola Olabisi Adebowale, described the dual event as a defining moment for the party in Lagos.

“Today is not just about launching a party structure; it is about igniting a movement for accountable governance, grassroots empowerment, and people-centered leadership,” she said.

Adebowale added that the NNPP is positioning itself as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 elections, with a focus on inclusiveness, youth engagement, and community-driven development.

The event, held in Olodi-Apapa, attracted party stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters, marking a significant step in the NNPP’s grassroots expansion in Lagos State.
