The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) and the Ogun State Government have strengthened collaboration to accelerate the development of the Gateway Inland Dry Port project in the state.

Both parties achieved this when the Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr. Pius Akutah, led the NSC management team on a courtesy visit to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, in Abeokuta, recently.
Speaking during the visit, Akutah commended the governor for his strong commitment to the project, expressing optimism that the Gateway Inland Dry Port would soon become operational.
According to him, the Council is determined to promote critical transport infrastructure such as inland dry ports to enhance trade facilitation and logistics efficiency across the country.
“It is our desire to promote critical transport infrastructure like inland dry ports, which you have thrown your weight behind. I am confident that this project will be realised before the end of your tenure,” he said.
Akutah noted that while several legacy dry port projects across Nigeria have progressed slowly, the Ogun State initiative stands out due to the state government’s dedication.
He added that the NSC continues to champion seamless cargo movement and promote ease of doing business in Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sector.
In his remarks, Governor Abiodun welcomed the NSC delegation and reiterated the state government’s commitment to the project.
He described the Gateway Inland Dry Port as a strategic infrastructure that would significantly boost the state’s economy by supporting manufacturing companies and industries.
Abiodun also noted that the facility would help address logistical bottlenecks currently faced by manufacturers in transporting raw materials from Lagos State to Ogun State.
According to him, once operational, the inland dry port will enhance cargo handling efficiency and strengthen Ogun State’s position as a major industrial hub in Nigeria.
