
The Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) is set to hold the second edition of its MARAN Annual Maritime Lecture (MAMAL) 2024 on Thursday and encourages maritime stakeholders, industry professionals, and the general public to attend the event.
According to the maritime reporter’s association, the much-anticipated MAMAL 2024 holding on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the prestigious Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, will provide a unique platform to address trade issues across Africa.
The event, themed “AfCFTA: Dismantling Trade Barriers, Navigating Regional Trade,” promises to provide in-depth insights into Africa’s Free Trade Agreement and its implications for regional and global commerce.
The MARAN Annual Maritime Lecture according to the President of the association, Godfrey Bivbere, will convene key stakeholders, policymakers, and experts from across the maritime and trade sectors to discuss strategies for maximizing the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
The Special Guest of Honour, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, will deliver a keynote address, underscoring the Federal Government’s initiatives and commitment to dismantling trade barriers and fostering a competitive blue economy.
The event will also feature prominent dignitaries, including: Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, Executive Secretary, AfCFTA Nigeria; Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa, renowned maritime expert and former Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA); Dr. Muda Yussuf, an eminent economist and the CEO of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE); among others.
Meanwhile, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is billed to serve as the Guest of Honour.
Participants can look forward to engaging discussions, expert-led panels, and robust deliberations on how Nigeria and other African nations can fully capitalize on AfCFTA to enhance trade competitiveness, attract foreign investment, and boost economic growth.
