
The Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed the Authority’s commitment to improve inland waterways connectivity for the transportation of goods and persons in a safe and sustainable manner.
Oyebamiji disclosed this in a goodwill message to the members of staff at NIWA, even as he observed that the year 2024 was a significant turning point for the Authority.
His words: “As we move into 2025, let us carry forward the lessons learned and the successes achieved. This new year present us with an opportunity to build upon our past accomplishments and to strive for even greater heights. Our collective efforts have the power to transform the Inland Waterways sector, enhancing connectivity, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering economic growth.
“Despite some challenges we faced in 2024, we demonstrated resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment to our vision and mission. Together, we achieved milestones that have not only strengthened our operations but have also laid a solid foundation for the future of our Inland Waterways.”
He encouraged the NIWA team to embrace the new year with renewed hope, energy, and optimism, stressing that together, they could continue to innovate, collaborate, and serve the Authority with dedication and excellence.
“I encourage each of you to set ambitious goals for the Authority and yourselves and to support one another in achieving them” Oyebamiji stated.
He prayed God Almighty make the year 2025 to be a year filled with hope, progress, and success for the Authority and wish the staff and their families a prosperous and fulfilling year.
The Managing Director also expressed his gratitude to Almighty God who out of his Infinite mercies and wisdom spared lives of NIWA officials and granted them health, strength, and the privilege to witness and see through the end of the year 2024.
