
A veteran maritime journalist and Publisher of One Page Africa, Mrs. Hope Orivri, has clinched a doctorate degree in Mass Communication at the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Orivri, who is also a certified WASH specialist and expert in Communication for Development (C4D), successfully defended her project on Friday.
“I have successfully defended my PhD project ‘Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Message Utilisation Among Mothers of Under-five Children in Lagos Slums.’ PhD earned, and I am truly grateful to God,” she told our correspondent.

News Diet recalls that Hope Orivri’s short presentation on her project ‘Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Message Utilisation Among Mothers of Under-five Children in Lagos Slums’, won the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for doctorate students across African institutions.
The 3MT initiative involves discussing a students’ entire thesis in just 3 minutes and the competition was organised to celebrate impactful developmental research on Africa by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students the world over.
The continental competition was organized by The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) as part of activities to mark 2023 Nelson Mandela Week in partnership with the South African Consulate in Lagos.
Mrs. Orivri, representing the UNILAG Mass Communication Alumni Association (UMCAA) won the competition with her presentation on “Utilisation of WASH Behaviour Change Messages among Mothers of Under-5 Children in Lagos Urban Slums.”
