The Shippers’ Association Lagos State (SALS) has elected Mr. Nicodemus Olorunshola Odolo as its new President, marking the beginning of a new leadership era for the body of cargo owners.
Odolo secured nine votes to defeat his rival, Princess Mulikat Fehintola Sanni, who polled two votes in the keenly contested election held in Lagos on Thursday.
Other executive members returned unopposed include Mrs. Ngozi Modebelu as Vice President; Mr. Ganni Alli Shobande as Secretary General; Mr. Wilson Osim as Financial Secretary; and Mr. Ike Nwagbo as Publicity Secretary.
The new executives were sworn in by Barr. Remigius Uche Odoh, with Pastor Jonah Amata serving as Electoral and Returning Officer.
In his acceptance speech, Odolo described the outcome as a “collective victory,” pledging inclusive leadership and reforms to reposition SALS nationally and internationally. He promised to give shippers a stronger voice in maritime policy and to push for faster cargo clearance processes.
“This victory belongs to all of us. It is testimony to the power of unity and cooperation,” Odolo said, adding that his administration would work with industry stakeholders to achieve port release timelines of 12 to 48 hours.
With the new leadership, members expressed optimism that SALS would play a more influential role in shaping maritime operations and policy reforms.
