Dangote Group’s Group Vice President (Oil & Gas), Mr. Edwin Devakumar, will deliver the keynote address at the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping’s (NCS) Members’ Evening, as CEOs and maritime industry leaders converge to explore opportunities for greater efficiency and investment in Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.
The high-level event, themed “A Public-Private Dialogue with CEOs: Unlocking Efficiency in the Marine and Blue Economy Value Chain,” will hold on September 10, 2026, at 4:30pm at the Lagos Motor Boat Club, 28 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Director General of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, Mrs. Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike, said the event’s theme and keynote speaker underscores the importance of connecting Nigeria’s maritime sector with major players driving industrial and economic activity.
She described the NCS Members’ Evening as a strategic platform for business leaders, government representatives and maritime stakeholders to engage on practical ways of improving efficiency, strengthening investment and unlocking greater value across the marine and blue economy.
According to Chimezie-Azubuike, the participation of a senior executive from the Dangote Group will bring an important industry perspective to conversations around the link between shipping, energy, logistics, manufacturing and Nigeria’s broader economic development.
The event is deliberately structured to go beyond policy discussions, the NCS Director General posited, adding that it offers participants an opportunity to interact directly with CEOs and senior executives across the maritime and related sectors.
“An efficient marine and blue economy value chain requires collaboration, investment and continuous dialogue between the public and private sectors,” she said.
Chimezie-Azubuike noted that such engagement was essential to identifying bottlenecks, developing practical solutions and creating an environment capable of attracting more private-sector investment into Nigeria’s maritime economy.
She added that the Members’ Evening would provide a valuable networking platform, enabling participants to build business relationships, explore partnerships and identify new opportunities across shipping, ports, logistics, oil and gas and other segments of the blue economy.
The event will be hosted by Alhaji Aminu Umar, President of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, while Governing Board members of NCS and other maritime bigwigs are scheduled to grace the occasion.
The organisers believe that bringing together senior decision-makers from different parts of the economy would encourage cross-sector collaboration and provide stakeholders with insights into emerging opportunities and challenges.
The NCS Director General encouraged maritime professionals, businesses, investors and other stakeholders to take advantage of the gathering to expand their networks and participate in conversations that could shape the future direction of Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.
Participation is pegged at N25,000 for Chamber members and N35,000 for non-members, while sponsorship, advertising and branding opportunities are available.
