The Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) is set to confer its prestigious Patron title on the President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, in recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s maritime industry and humanitarian causes.

The investiture will form a major highlight of the MARAN Maritime Annual Lecture (MAMAL), scheduled to hold at the Nigerian Air Force Event Centre, No. 1 Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ezisi, a veteran freight forwarder with decades of experience in the industry, has earned recognition for his contributions to freight forwarding and his advocacy for improved professionalism within Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Beyond his professional activities, the NAGAFF President is also known for his philanthropic initiatives and support for individuals and communities, further distinguishing him as a stakeholder committed to service.

MARAN President, Mr. Oluyinka Onigbinde, said the decision to confer the honour on Ezisi was based on his record of professionalism, service and contributions to the growth of the maritime industry.

He added that the investiture would strengthen the relationship between MARAN and stakeholders in freight forwarding while promoting greater collaboration across the maritime value chain.

According to Onigbinde, MAMAL has consistently provided a credible platform for stakeholders to examine critical issues confronting Nigeria’s maritime sector and develop ideas capable of advancing the industry.

The annual lecture is expected to attract senior government officials, regulators, policymakers, industry leaders, academics, journalists and other stakeholders across the maritime sector.

MARAN said Ezisi’s investiture as Patron would underscore the association’s commitment to recognising individuals whose professional achievements, stakeholder engagement and humanitarian contributions align with the development of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

The honour is also expected to further deepen collaboration between maritime journalists and industry stakeholders, particularly in freight forwarding, port operations, trade facilitation and logistics.
