The National President of Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, has beckoned on the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi to extend the validity of Customs licenses to 2 years.
APFFLON made this call in a congratulatory message to the Customs boss who recently clocked 2 years in the stead as the helmsman of NCS.
According to the association, a move to extend the validity of Customs licenses from one year to two years is in alignment with the Comptroller-General’s vision for a more efficient customs process.
“We advocate for the implementation of a two-year license validity for freight forwarders. This change would serve as a commendable legacy for CG Adewale, transforming the industry by enhancing operational efficiency.
“A longer license validity period would reduce the administrative burdens on freight forwarders, allowing them to focus on their core operations and improve service delivery.
“Extending the validity period could motivate freight forwarders to adhere to regulations, thereby fostering a culture of compliance within the industry and the policy could encourage more investment in freight forwarding services, leading to enhanced capacity and better infrastructure.”
The group, however, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Customs boss and commended his exemplary leadership at the NCS.
It posited that the tenure of the Comptroller General of Customs has been marked by significant achievements and a commitment to enhancing the operational landscape of customs in Nigeria.
“Once again, congratulations to CG Adewale for his remarkable tenure, and we hope for continued progress in the Nigeria Customs Service,” the statement read.
