As the 2022 World Tourism Day draws nearer, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Chief Samuel Alabi has encouraged the group to ensure all relevant stakeholders participate in this year’s celebration.
The 2022 World Tourism Day is slated for September 27th and FTAN intends to have the celebration in Lagos, but the BOT Chairman has underscored the importance of having the buy-in of all tourism stakeholders in a bid to enhance the sector’s growth.
Chief Alabi, who managed FTAN during its most difficult moments and midwived the new leadership of the Federation, also advised that the 2022 celebration by FTAN should engender collaborative efforts and provide a platform that inspires growth in the sector.
“This Committee should not be about fund raising alone, even though it is very critical to the hosting the event. We should work hard to bring both the private sector and government agencies together,” Chief Alabi said.
While assuring that he is ever willing to support FTAN and the industry, he described the sector as one that requires all-inclusive approach to realize its enormous potentials.
Alabi, who was speaking at a reception to welcome FTAN fund raising team headed by Dr. Gani Tarzan Balogun, also provided guidelines to sustainable fund raising for the association.
In his address, Dr. Balogun who led members of the Fund Raising Committee to visit the FTAN BoT Chairman, disclosed that the Committee thought it expedient to brief Alabi as spiritual head of FTAN and to be guided to ensure a successful tourism day celebration which will benefit the industry.
Kate Ejike and Tunde Kolade were part of the Fund Raising Committee on the visit and they commended Chief Alabi for his guidance.
