The Area Controller, Tin Can Island Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, on Tuesday decorated 110 newly promoted officers at the command.
Among those decorated were nine Deputy Comptrollers who were promoted to the rank of Comptrollers, 16 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to Deputy Comptrollers and 21 Chief Superintendent of Customs promoted to Assistant Comptrollers.
Nnadi noted that the promotion was the first conducted by the current NCS management.
He charged the newly promoted officers to use their new ranks and positions to ensure efficient service delivery to the trading community.
“It is a statement of fact that the collaboration between us and stakeholders has helped in building the capacity of the officers to make us emerge as the command with the highest promotion,” he said.
The Customs Area Controller advised the officers to work hard to justify their elevation.
“Over 67 Comptrollers were promoted; that is unprecedented. It is important that the management decided to compensate them this time around. You are not only lucky; you are privileged, having been found academically competent.
“Those not promoted should work hard. Your rank confers service in you and not power. Whichever office assigned to you should be seen as service and not as power. Our stakeholders deserve to be respected. You must optimize service delivery. Use your new rank to help the command to survive the revenue target to be assigned to the command. The only obligation is to mentor you and what you owe me back is service delivery,” he said.
