The Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Tin Can Island Chapter, has joined the Nigerian maritime community in celebrating a distinguished icon of customs brokerage, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, JP, on the occasion of his 75th birthday.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Prince Olawale Mathew Cole, and Publicity Secretary, Onome Joy Monije, the chapter described the former ANLCA National President as “a bridge builder, visionary reformer, and the embodiment of integrity and professionalism in the maritime industry.”
The chapter hailed Prince Shittu’s transformational leadership during his tenure as ANLCA’s National President from 2010, a period it said redefined the association’s structure and credibility.
Under his watch, ANLCA achieved several milestones, including the completion of its permanent national secretariat — Dikko House — in Lagos; the introduction of biometric identification for members to curb impersonation; and stronger international recognition for Nigerian customs brokers.
“Prince Shittu came at a time ANLCA needed reform and unity. Through discipline, honesty, and foresight, he restored dignity to the customs brokerage profession and elevated ANLCA’s standing both locally and internationally,” the statement read.
The chapter also lauded his role in mentoring young professionals and fostering cooperation among freight forwarders, describing him as “Papa ANLCA” — a revered figure whose legacy continues to shape the association’s present and future.
“At 75, Prince Olayiwola Shittu remains an inspiration – a man who gave meaning to leadership and touched countless lives with grace and wisdom. We wish him good health, peace, and long life,” Prince Cole said.
Prince Shittu, who began his career at the Nigerian Ports Authority before founding Skelas Group, is widely respected for his advocacy of ethical governance, fair regulation, and professionalism in port operations.
The celebration, according to ANLCA Tin Can Chapter, is not only a tribute to longevity but a recognition of a lifetime devoted to service, mentorship, and nation-building.
