The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has demonstrated its regulatory effectiveness in the nation’s maritime industry following a swift intervention that resolved operational issues between SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics over the berthing of an AGL-operated vessel.

The intervention, led by the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, helped to quickly defuse tensions surrounding the operational impasse, preventing potential disruptions to port activities and cargo movement.

The Council’s timely action underscored its commitment to ensuring seamless port operations, promoting trade facilitation, and sustaining industrial harmony within the maritime sector.

During the engagement, the NSC emphasized the importance of optimal utilization of terminal facilities, stressing that efficient coordination among operators remains critical to improving port efficiency and safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime reputation.

Stakeholders at the meeting also highlighted the need for sustained collaboration among industry players to avoid operational bottlenecks capable of undermining the ease of doing business at the nation’s seaports.

The engagement ended on a positive note, with both parties reaching a mutual resolution on cargo evacuation processes and agreeing to strengthen operational synergy to forestall future disputes.

Management of both SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics expressed appreciation to the Council for its prompt intervention, commending Dr. Akutah and the NSC for what they described as an effective and responsive regulatory role in maintaining stability within port operations.
