Nigeria Shipowners’ Association (NISA) has encouraged the new Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to drive technological advancement to harness the potentials of the nation’s marine ecosystem.
The group of ship-owners made this call in a press statement disseminated earlier today where it congratulated the 41-year old Minister, Tunji-Ojo on his new portfolio.
According to the NISA statement signed by its President, Otunba Sola Adewunmi and General Secretary, Otunba Rowaye Jubril; Tunji-Ojo’s appointment has been well received and applauded by stakeholders in the maritime industry.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and entire members of the Nigerian Ship Owners Association (NISA), we wish to congratulate Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo on his well-deserved appointment as the Hon. Minister of Marine & Blue Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.
The association also expressed satisfaction that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu finally gave a listening ear to the clamour of maritime stakeholders for a specialized ministry for the marine ecosystem potentials.
“As an accomplished businessman and a seasoned administrator with a flourishing career in ICT, it is apparent that your appointment as the first Minister of Marine & Blue Economy will provide our country the opportunity to deploy the much needed technology to harness the huge potentials of the marine ecosystem”
