As part of efforts to balance Nigeria’s international trade via exports, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) held a strategic meeting in Lagos yesterday.
Both organizations deliberated on the personnel and equipment to be utilized following the presidential approval for Export Processing Terminals.
This deliberation held when the Director General of SON, Mallam Farouk Salim paid a visit to the Managing Director of NPA, Mr. Mohammed Bello-Koko, at the NPA headquarters in Lagos.
According to an update on the meeting posted on NPA’s official twitter handle, both agencies also strategized on the best approach to seamlessly deploy SON personnel to the ports.
“We discussed the presidential approval on the return of SON to the ports and the deployment of their staff and equipment to the approved Export Processing Terminals,” the NPA tweet said.
In a related development to promote exports, the Authority also stated that it has approved an export window and allotted 3,473 export-laden trucks; the highest for any window.
