The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) has released the timetable for its nationwide zonal elections, setting the stage for a keenly contested leadership transition ahead of its Golden Jubilee Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Happy New Year

In line with its constitutional provisions, the zonal polls will serve as the qualifying platform for aspirants seeking election into the National Executive Council, with successful candidates at both zonal and national levels eligible to serve a maximum of two two-year terms, subject to ratification by the Board of Trustees.

This year’s electoral process carries added significance as the association marks 50 years of professional advocacy and industry leadership. The milestone AGM and national elections will be hosted in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Chairman of the NANTA Elections Committee and Second National Deputy President, Dr. Dagunduro Tukumbo, announced that the zonal elections will commence in Lagos State on February 12, 2026. The exercise will then move to the Eastern Zone in Port Harcourt on February 19, followed by the Kano Zone on February 24 and the Abuja (FCT) Zone on February 25, 2026.

According to Dr. Tukumbo, the Western Zone will conclude the zonal election process on February 26, 2026, with the validation of its new zonal leadership, ahead of the national elections and AGM.

He assured members that the association is committed to a transparent, credible, and fair electoral process, urging all aspirants to familiarise themselves with and strictly observe the electoral code of conduct. He stressed that after five decades of existence, NANTA has evolved beyond electoral controversies and remains determined to uphold professionalism above sectional or personal interests.

Ibadan will also host NANTA’s Golden Jubilee celebration, scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre, an event expected to attract industry leaders, stakeholders, and partners from across the travel and tourism ecosystem.

President of NANTA, Dr. Yinka Folami, expressed optimism about the forthcoming AGM, describing it as a defining moment for the association. He said the leadership would unveil fresh initiatives and strategic directions to strengthen NANTA’s relevance in a rapidly evolving travel industry.

Dr. Folami called on members nationwide to participate actively in the electoral process and ensure that credible representatives, capable of advancing their collective interests, are elected to lead the association into its next chapter.
