The Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has joined the entire maritime industry in mourning the passage of its former President, Mr. Ray Ugochukwu.
MARAN, the foremost group of journalists in Nigeria’s maritime domain, described the death of its former President as shocking and unexpected.
In a statement signed by the President of MARAN, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, the deceased veteran journalist was Ray Ugochukwu was described as a leading figure in the maritime media in the country.
Recall that the seasoned journalist Ugochukwu died on Thursday June 1, 2023 after a brief illness.
“The death of Mr. Ray Ugochukwu came to us rudely and unexpectedly. It is a big loss to us in MARAN. Despite the fact that he was no longer in the association, the deceased was always available to give counsel to the association which he held in high esteem. We are going to miss his father-figure. ”
“We mourn with his immediate family – wife and children, and the entire family of Ugochukwu. It is our prayers that God who knows better than us will console them and be their helper at this critical time. May his kind and gentle soul find rest in the bosom of his creator,” the statement read.
