The Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Tin Can Island Chapter, Prince Wale Cole, has congratulated the National Executive Committee (NECOM) on the successful celebration of the association’s 72nd anniversary in Lagos.

Commending NECOM, led by National President Mr Emenike Nwokeoji, Cole said the event reflected a strong commitment to strengthening ANLCA and sustaining its relevance in Nigeria’s maritime and logistics industry.

He also thanked the Board of Trustees (BOT), led by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, for its guidance and support, noting that the association’s stability depends on cooperation between its leadership structures and members.

Cole praised the Local Organising Committee Chairman, Prince Segun Oduntan, for coordinating the preparations, describing the event’s success as proof of the committee’s dedication.

He extended his commendation to all committee members, noting that an event of that magnitude demands planning, sacrifice and commitment from people whose work often goes unseen. He also commended all ANLCA members who supported the anniversary.

The event brought together customs agents, government officials, maritime stakeholders and industry leaders to mark ANLCA’s 72-year journey and its contribution to Nigeria’s trade and port development.

According to Cole, the anniversary was more than a celebration. It gave members a chance to reflect on the association’s achievements, challenges and responsibilities in a changing maritime environment.

He said it showed ANLCA’s strength as one of the oldest and most prominent professional bodies in Nigeria’s customs brokerage and maritime sector.

He urged the leadership and members to use the milestone to renew their commitment to unity, professionalism and constructive engagement with agencies responsible for trade facilitation and port operations.

Cole stressed that ANLCA must adapt as the Federal Government pursues reforms in revenue collection, trade facilitation, port efficiency and customs digitalisation. Licensed agents, he said, remain critical to cargo movement and international trade, and the association must promote professionalism while advocating policies that make Nigerian ports more competitive.

He also called for closer cooperation among the national leadership, BOT, chapters and members, saying the association’s strength depends on working together to advance the profession and the maritime sector.

Cole congratulated Nwokeoji, NECOM, Oduntan and the organising committee once again, and urged the leadership to sustain the momentum. He said the 72nd anniversary should mark a new beginning for ANLCA, with renewed focus on member welfare, professional development, stakeholder engagement and a more efficient, competitive port system.
