Tin Can Customs: ACG Nnadi Hands Over Leadership Reigns To Comptroller Onyeka

Comptroller Onyeka requests prayers, ACG Nnadi canvasses stakeholders support

The Tin Can Island Port (TCIP) Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has witnessed a change in leadership as Comptroller Frank Onyeka received the leadership baton from Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Dera Nnadi mni, on Friday.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, ACG Nnadi enjoined the diverse categories of port stakeholders to extend their robust collaboration and partnerehip to his successor Comptroller Onyeka.

This development was occasioned by the recent promotion of Dera Nnadi to the management rank of Assistant Comptroller General.

According to Nnadi, his leadership role at TCIP which culminated in a historic N1trillion revenue collection and renovation of the Customs administrative building, could be likened to a forerunner that set the pace and platform for Comptroller Onyeka to do more exploits.

He, however, expressed confidence in Comptroller Onyeka’s ability to surpass the recent milestones attained at the Command and remarked that Onyeka’s previous experiences as Deputy Controller in TCIP and Apapa avails valuable expertise.

On his part, the new TCIP Customs boss, Onyeka posited that one of his primary goals is to build on the revenue generation exploits at the Command via enhanced trade facilitation and robust stakeholder engagement.

While describing the departure of ACG Nnadi as leaving a huge shoe to fill, Comptroller Onyeka sought the prayers and support of the Command’s officers and the entire port stakeholders.

Comptroller Onyeka holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science; a Master’s degree in Public Administration and has attended other numerous trainings where he obtained several certifications in the Service within and outside the country.

Onyeka has consistently demonstrated remarkable intellect and exceptional courage in every assignment he undertakes, thriving in the field as well as at the helm of operations, his dedication to the core mandates of the Comptroller General of Customs stands out.

He is known to effectively carry out his duties in line with global best practices and his ability to uphold high standards in the Customs process showcases both his professional expertise and his commitment to improving operations within the service.

Prior to his deployment as the Customs Area Controller, Tincan Island Port Area Command, Onyeka was the officer in charge of the Premier Port Gate, Apapa where he worked tirelessly with the seating Area Controller in generating the massive trillions the Command has generated.

He also formerly served in Onne Port Area Command Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) gate, where his uncommon intelligence also saw the FOT gate on top chart of transformational innovations, huge revenue collected and seizures made.

Onyeka was the first recipient of the valued addition officer award created by the present Assistant Comptroller General Board; ACG B Imam.
