The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Lagos State Chapter, has elected Mr Adebola Babatunde as its new chairman to steer the affairs of the chapter and strengthen corporate governance advocacy at the state level.

Outgoing Chairperson, Ms Efosa Ewere, announced this on Wednesday in Lagos during the chapter’s Annual General Meeting, where she also highlighted major achievements recorded during the 2025 financial year.
Ewere said the chapter made significant progress in corporate governance advocacy, strategic collaborations and member-focused initiatives under her administration. She noted that the leadership was guided by a vision of transformational leadership anchored on innovation, inclusivity and strong governance principles.
According to her, the administration focused on leadership, experience, engagement and excellence, which shaped the chapter’s activities throughout the year.
“One of the major highlights of the year was the introduction of Corporate Governance Week, which featured a series of impactful activities that attracted professionals and stakeholders across the governance ecosystem,” she said.
Ewere added that the chapter sustained its quarterly health and wellness webinar series to promote members’ wellbeing and professional efficiency. She explained that the sessions focused on preventive healthcare and early detection of diseases, offering practical health insights to participants.
She also disclosed that the chapter strengthened professional collaboration through partnerships with the Oyo State Chapter of ICSAN and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Ewere attributed the success of the initiatives to the support of the national leadership of ICSAN, particularly the President, Mrs Uto Ukpanah, and the immediate past president, Mrs Funmi Ekundayo.
She further noted that the administration recorded key institutional achievements, including the introduction of structured planning committees, improved digital visibility and the relaunch of the chapter’s website.
Other achievements, she said, include the launch of a membership and payment portal, improved financial strength through sponsorship, and the introduction of member-focused initiatives and branded materials.
“As this is my final address as chairman, I remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve. Together, we have demonstrated that the strength of our institute lies in commitment, collaboration and shared purpose,” she said.
Mr Olusina Sokunbi, the chapter’s Treasurer, said the 2025 financial year closed at N13.296 million compared to N8.60 million in the previous year, representing a 54.1 per cent increase.
Sokunbi added that the chapter maintained a strong liquidity position, enabling it to meet short-term obligations and fund upcoming programmes. He said efforts would continue to drive revenue, explore alternative income sources and strengthen financial performance.
In his acceptance speech, Babatunde expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and commended the outgoing leadership for its commitment and achievements.
He pledged to build on the progress already made while strengthening the chapter’s collective vision.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Babatunde is a corporate and commercial lawyer and governance professional. He is also a Managing Associate at Greychapel Legal, a full-service commercial law firm operating in Lagos and Abuja.
