The Sea Empowerment and Research Center (SEREC) has congratulated renowned maritime leader and former President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu JP, on his appointment as an International Peace Advocate by the Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC), describing the honour as both well-deserved and symbolic of Shittu’s enduring impact on the industry.

In a statement signed by its Head of Research, Fwdr Eugene Nweke, SEREC noted that the recognition underscores Shittu’s long-standing commitment to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and principled leadership—particularly within Nigeria’s freight forwarding sub-sector.

According to the organisation, Shittu’s track record of fostering unity, promoting professionalism, and encouraging constructive stakeholder engagement has significantly contributed to stability and confidence across the maritime industry.

“SEREC views this honour not only as a personal milestone for Prince Shittu but also as a moment of pride for the entire freight forwarding community,” the statement read. “It highlights the importance of visionary leadership in driving harmony, institutional development, and sustainable growth within the sector.”

The Centre further expressed confidence that Shittu’s new role on the global stage will amplify his contributions to peace advocacy while strengthening industry cohesion both within Nigeria and internationally.

Shittu, a respected figure in maritime circles, has consistently been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at advancing professional standards and mediating disputes within the industry.

SEREC wished him continued success in the assignment, affirming that his elevation would further enhance the profile of Nigeria’s maritime sector in global peace and development discourse.

News Diet recalls that the Nigerian freight forwarding sector enjoyed an era categorised as one of its finest leadership age when Chief Eugene Nweke held sway as the President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) and Prince Olayiwola Shittu JP, led the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA).
