- Industry veterans set to provide mentorship guide
Over 300 maritime students from several universities are set to participate in a mentorship and leadership training programme at the 7th edition of Annual Maritime Students And Youth Conference (AMSAY) in Lagos tomorrow.
The event, which is popularly known as ‘A Day with Nigerian Maritime Students’, is expected to have key industry stakeholders including the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh OFR; President of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, Mrs. Eunice Ezeoke; Head of Technical, Abuja Memorandum of Understanding on Ports State Control for West and Central Africa, Engr. Richard Owolabi; Proprietor, Coastal Polytechnics Lagos Nigeria, Prof Alex Favour Okwuashi; among others playing crucial roles.
While the NIMASA Director General would deliver the Lead Paper Presentation titled, “Towards Attaining Greener Shipping, Cleaner Oceans and Sustainable Marine Environment In Nigeria: The Roles of Stakeholders”; Prof. Okwuashi would speak on, “Entrepreneurial Opportunities In Maritime Sector For Nigerian Youths”.
Meanwhile, Ezeoke and Owolabi are expected to play the roles of mother and father of the day respectively at the event on Friday, June 16th, 2023.
Each of the paper presentation sessions would have a moderator and some Panelists who will discuss the Presentations from different perspectives in order to widen the scope of the discourse and enrich the audience.
The event holds at Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) Auditorium, Yaba, Lagos by 9am tomorrow and participants comprise maritime students, young maritime professionals and key industry stakeholders.
