President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the conferment of National Honour, OFR (Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic) on the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh.
The Minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume disclosed this in a letter addressed to the NIMASA boss, earlier this week.
In the letter with Ref: FMSDIGA/NHA/001/T/91, titled 2022 National Awards Letter, the Minister noted that NIMASA’s Director General, Jamoh is one of the 2022 awardees.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Bashir Jamoh expressed delight at the nomination, stating that it was beyond his dreams to be Director General of NIMASA when his public service journey started decades ago.
“Words cannot express how humbled I feel to be so considered for the National Honour as an Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR). When I began my maritime journey 30 years ago, little did I know that I would be so favoured by Almighty Allah to rise to the position of Director General of NIMASA,” Jamoh said.
The investiture ceremony is scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja on Tuesday, 11th October, 2022 at 9:00am.
