The Chairman of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Tin Can Island Port (TCIP) Chapter, Mr. Ojo Akintoye speaking during stakeholders meeting with the new Customs Area Controller, Tin Can, Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni.

ANLCA Tin Can chapter made this known in a press statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Onome Monije, earlier today.

The freight forwarding group also expressed delight with the resolutions of the 6-hour meeting Comptroller Dera Nnadi had with stakeholders at the Command yesterday to enhance ease of doing business.

According to the group, there are already indications that the Comptroller Dera Nnadi led operations for Customs at the Command will be service-driven with early cargo examination already attained with the new 9am schedule for cargo examination.

“ANLCA is excited to welcome back Comptroller Dera Nnadi to Tin Can Island Port. We know him as a revenue mobilizer and a distinguished career officer. As practitioners, we are sure that we will be having a new mutually beneficial approach to business at the port.”

“The recent meeting provided an ideal opportunity for stakeholders to have a heart-to-heart talk with the new Tin Can Customs boss as we presented our major issues and also promised to partner with Customs in attaining the remaining 48 percent of their revenue target for 2023”

“We want to encourage him especially as he has promised to support those who are doing legitimate business at the port. At ANLCA, we are also delighted that the new sheriff in town, Comptroller Nnadi has promised to increase the ease of doing business at the port,” Onome said.

While assuring that ANLCA members and other stakeholders will be encouraged to come early to port for cargo examination in line with the prompt schedule of the new Customs regime, the Customs brokerage group encouraged other Customs officials to match the new Area Controller’s punctuality and efficiency.

“If as Area Controller, Comptroller Nnadi will be early, you can be sure that he will ensure that his officers are also prompt. He equally promised that his door will be open to genuine complaints and concerns of Customs brokers,” the ANLCA PRO said.

Meanwhile, she encouraged freight agents to prioritize proper documentation and honesty in their declaration in a bid to streamline the seizures, delays and infractions caused by improper conduct of freight forwarders.
