As part of efforts to ensure traders complete their voter’s registration and obtain permanent voter’s cards (PVCs), NDIGBOAMAKA Progressive Markets Association has directed the closure of some markets in Lagos on Thursday and Friday.
NDIGBOAMAKA, an umbrella body of major markets association in Lagos announced the staggered closure of its affiliate market associations to enable the traders the opportunity to register and get their PVCs.
In a communique after her meeting on Tuesday, the union’s Secretary General, Comrade Chinedu Ukatu advised all traders to make use of the opportunity to get registered.
Ukatu, who is also a member of Lagos State Market Advisory Council posited that the traders have resolved to be fully part of the electoral process by performing their civic responsibility towards choosing the next leaders at all levels of governance in 2023.
He announced that Alaba Amalgamated traders Association (Council of sections) in her release by its President General, Hon. Mbonu Geoffrey will be the first to shutdown on Thurdsday 9th June while Abule-Ado building materials joins on Friday, 10th June 2022.
Meanwhile, the schedule for others will be announced soonest.
The group, however, used the opportunity to congratulate all the political parties who have successfully conducted their primary elections and the flag bearers elected.
While stressing that the position of the association is non partisan, he observed that the group could identify with any individual or party who will protect their interest vis-a-vis the interest of Lagos traders.
