The Comptroller General of Customs, Dr. Wale Adeniyi, MFR, will be honoured as a Distinguished Maritime Personality (DMP) at the 2025 National Discourse on the Maritime Industry, organized by Maritime Nigeria in collaboration with industry partners and the media.
The event, themed “Port Modernization: Automation, Regulation, Administration and Competencies,” is scheduled to provide a robust platform for stakeholders to explore innovative pathways for repositioning Nigeria’s maritime sector.
Speaking ahead of the event, Maritime Nigeria’s Editor and Programme Coordinator, Mr. Kelvin Kagbare, said preparations are in top gear.
“We have worked very hard, consulted widely and received encouraging feedback from stakeholders. The lineup of speakers and honourees reflects our collective commitment to advancing shipping and maritime development in Nigeria,” he said.
Other distinguished personalities billed to speak and be recognized include the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, who will deliver the keynote address, and the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola.
Also expected to make paper presentations are; Dr. Kevin Okonna, Acting Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron; High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), Chairman of Tantita Security Services Ltd; and Dr. Oluwasegun Musa, Group Managing Director, Global Transport Policy and Widescope International.
The speaker lineup further includes; Captain (Dr.) Warredi Enisuoh, Executive Director of Operations and Technical Services, Tantita Security Services; Mrs. Mcfoy Rollens, MD/CEO, Ocean Deep Services Ltd; Mr. Emmanuel Maiguwa, MD/CEO, Brick Mustern and Mattoni Ltd; and Mr. Okey Ibeke, MD/CEO, International Trade Advisory Services Ltd.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Eguono Odjegba, expressed optimism that the 2025 edition would “surpass expectations given the calibre of participants and the timeliness of the theme.” He noted that the forum aims to stimulate actionable conversations on automation, regulation, and competence building within the port ecosystem.
Committee members; Kenneth Jukpor and Precious Banjo echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the discourse will set an agenda for practical reforms across the maritime value chain.
Past recipients of the DMP honour include; Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, Capt. Warredi Enisuoh, Capt. Tajudeen Aloa, Dr. Charles Okorefe, Iroghama Ogbeifun, and Mr. Sesan Onileimo; all celebrated for their contributions to maritime excellence and policy innovation.
The 2025 National Discourse, organizers say, promises to be a landmark gathering that will not only recognize industry icons but also inspire a new blueprint for port modernization and competitiveness.
