Jean Chiazor To Receive ‘Face of Africa Icon Legacy’ Award

The Principal Partner, Jean Chiazor and Partners, Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere (SAN) has been nominated as an awardee for the Face of Africa Icon Legacy Award 2024, taking place in South Africa.

According to the organizers, Anishere’s nomination is for her remarkable achievements and contributions to Africa’s development and the event is scheduled to hold at Freedom Park, Pretoria, South Africa from November 18th to 23rd, 2024.

The Chairman, Committee on Invitation, Outstanding Leader of Africa, Mr. Johannes H. Reyneke, said the initiative is put together to celebrate African excellence, unity, and iconic leadership.

In the award nomination letter, the organizers said; “We are honored to invite you as an esteemed Awardee Nominee to The Face of Africa Icon Legacy Award 2024, taking place in South Africa from November 18th to 23rd, 2024. This prestigious event celebrates African excellence, unity, and iconic leadership.”

“Your remarkable achievements and contributions to Africa’s development have earned you a well-deserved nomination. We believe your presence will not only be a testament to your outstanding work but also inspire others.”

The Learned Silk, who was recently appointed as one of the Court Members at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration, is also the Maritime Legal Consultant to the Nigerian House of Representatives’ Committee on Marine.

The veteran maritime lawyer is also a successful author, having already written five volumes of Essays in Admiralty – a comprehensive collection of essays and learned papers focused on maritime law, published by one of UK’s prominent publishers in Maritime books – Petrospot UK. Jean’s books are also found in the British Council Libraries.

She is also the Editor-In-Chief of Admiralty Law Reports of Nigeria, volumes 1-32 (A compendium of Judgments on Admiralty Matters in Nigeria, through the Federal High Court, to the Supreme Court of Nigeria) with a comprehensive index of cases published so far.

Anishere is also the Legal Adviser/Member of Women in Commonwealth Business Network, Nigeria (CBWN); Vice President of Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN); Exco Member, Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA); Past President, Women in Shipping and Trade Association (WISTA-Nigeria); Past President, African Women in Maritime Organization (WIMA-Nigeria); Past Continental President, Financial Secretary to the Board of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN); Women in Maritime Africa (WIMAFRICA); United Nations/African Union sole representative for African Women in Maritime (WIMAFRICA).
