Dr. Hope Orivri, CEO and Publisher of OnePage Africa, has just added another feather to her illustrious cap with the award of an Executive Master’s Degree in Public Health (MSc) from the University of Lagos Business School (UNILAG). This marks her fourth academic qualification, reinforcing her status as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished media and public sector leaders.
Orivri’s academic journey at UNILAG spans multiple disciplines including a PhD in Media and Communication Studies bagged a year ago with a specialization in Communication for Development to cementing her authority as a media scholar. Her PhD thesis, “Utilisation of WASH Behaviour Change Messages among Mothers of Under-5 Children in Lagos Urban Slums”, drove her passion in Public Health after extensive research and engagements with urban slum communities in Abete (Ijora-Badiya), Maracana (Ajegunle), Ago-Egun (Ilaje-Bariga), among others.

Beyond engagements in all these locations targeted towards behavioural change to address mothers who have children under the age of 5, Orivri decided to return to school for studies in Public Health.
Her recent Master’s degree thesis, “Knowledge, Perception and Preventive Practices of Monkey Pox Among Healthcare Workers in Lagos Primary Health Centres”, took her to 40 public healthcare facilities across Lagos; while Orivri is also credited for another research paper titled: “Effect of Environmental Pollution on Public Health.”
Orivri, who is also the Chairperson, Media and Publicity Committee of the Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC), earlier obtained her Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication as well as a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication, laying the foundation for her pioneering career in journalism — all from the University of Lagos.
Beyond academics, Dr. Orivri has transformed OnePage Africa into a leading digital news platform renowned for investigative reporting, thought leadership, and pan-African reach in the maritime sector. Her work bridges journalism, research, and public engagement, demonstrating the power of interdisciplinary leadership in shaping narratives and policy.
Few months ago, Orivri also emerged the CEO of Waterside Centre, a strategic community for social interaction, symposiums and mentorship among people who have maritime as their primary interest.
Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Orivri expressed profound gratitude to God for His guidance and grace, and to her family for their unwavering support, encouragement, and patience throughout the demanding academic journey. “Every milestone I achieve is not just my own – it is the result of the prayers, sacrifices, and love of those who have journeyed with me,” she said.
Her accomplishments are a masterclass in lifelong learning and impact, proving that education, vision, and professional excellence can converge to inspire a new generation of African leaders.
