Business leaders have advocated the need to train and empower young Nigerians to make them better equipped for leadership positions.
They gave the advice on Friday in Lagos via a statement from the maiden edition of Dreams and Dreamers Conclave themed: “Big Moves Only”.
Mr. Olufemi Awoyemi, Chairman, Proshare, stated that the dynamics of running the business environment in a few years to come would different totally, hence the need to adequately equip them with the prerequisite skill and technical know-how.
This, Awoyemi stated, would engender business sustainability, longevity and profitability.
“In years to come, the banking and education sectors would not be the same as overemphasis on certifications will change.
“Our duty is to pay attention to that evolution and play our roles to inculcate and fill up the youths with what they need so the next generation won’t see us as failures,” he said.
The Group Managing Director, Courteville Business Solutions, Dr Adebola Akindele, urged youths to embrace the highs and lows accompanying the journey of business and life.
In his remarks, the convener, Mr. Bright Ukwenga, said the essence of the retreat was to create a sense of renewed consciousness that young leaders matter and to have the capacity to dream big dreams.
Ukwenga noted that the event empowered around 100 mid-level career professionals between the ages of 25 and 35 to envision ambitious dreams, make bold moves, and achieve remarkable success in their chosen fields.
“The youth got the opportunity to draw inspiration from accomplished mentors, who have charted exceptional paths to success.
“The event is also a platform for young leaders to learn and boost their capacity through exposure and mentoring from the speakers.
“As they are inspired by the stories of those who have walked the path, they cultivate a sense of resilience to stay through until they get their desired results,” he said.
