The Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has expressed grief over the death of former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha.
In a condolence message to the incumbent Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, ANLCA described the late Mustapha as a reform-minded leader whose contributions to Nigeria’s trade and border management remain invaluable.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha, a distinguished former Comptroller General whose contributions to the Nigeria Customs Service remain etched in the annals of our nation’s trade and border management history,” the association said in a statement signed by its President, Mr. Emenike Nwokeoji.

Nwokeoji hailed the late Mustapha as “a man of integrity, discipline, and vision”, noting that his leadership laid foundations that continue to shape customs administration in Nigeria.
ANLCA extended condolences to the Nigeria Customs Service, the family of the deceased, and all stakeholders impacted by the loss.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations of customs officers and trade professionals,” the statement concluded.
Mustapha, who served during a pivotal period in the nation’s customs administration, was widely respected for his commitment to reform, professionalism, and national service.
The former Customs boss died at 80 years.
