Fuel marketers across Nigeria are increasingly turning to the Dangote Refinery, following sweeping reforms that have repositioned it as the country’s leading fuel distribution hub.

The refinery recently slashed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to ₦699 per litre and reduced its minimum purchase requirement from 2 million litres to 250,000 litres, opening the market to both large and small operators. To boost confidence, Dangote Refinery also introduced a 10-day bank guarantee system, ensuring seamless and reliable supply.

The impact was immediate. More than 1,000 trucks now load PMS daily from the refinery’s gantry, signalling strong market confidence in its pricing, capacity and operational efficiency.

President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said the strategy is aimed at making fuel affordable and widely available.

“Our goal is simple: to ensure energy is accessible to every Nigerian. By lowering prices and entry barriers, we are empowering marketers and strengthening nationwide distribution,” he said.

Dangote further stressed that the refinery is driven by legacy and national interest, not short-term profit, noting that the recent gantry price reductions are expected to reflect at retail outlets across the country.

Backing the shift, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has urged its members nationwide to source PMS from the Dangote Refinery, describing its pricing as the most competitive in the market. IPMAN also confirmed that direct supply to its registered members has commenced, with free delivery scheduled to begin in January 2026.

IPMAN National President, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi Shettima, said the association controls over 80 per cent of Nigeria’s PMS retail market, assuring Nigerians that fuel scarcity is now off the table.

“With this arrangement, there will be no supply gap. Nigerians can expect stable and affordable fuel nationwide,” he said.
