The appointment was confirmed at the CIoD YDF second Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday in Lagos.

Eyo’s emergence follows the expiration of Mrs. Folasade Akinmusire’s tenure as chairperson for two years.

In her remarks, Akinmusire said the focus of the YDF executive committee was to expose members to the concept of sustainability and sustainability reporting to update their businesses.

She said the forum’s activities centered on the key considerations for start ups in terms Environmental, Social and Governance principles and inclusivity as capacity building mechanisms for individuals and organisations.

“We looked into the challenges faced by budding entrepreneurs including inefficient business practices, rising staff attrition rates, talent retention mechanisms among others,” she said.

Akinmusire added that during her tenure, her team was able to increase its membership by nearly 80 per cent.

She lauded the institute’s president and the entire secretariat for their unwavering support without which, she said, none of these achievements would have been possible.

“As my tenure winds down to a close, I am confident in the leadership of the incoming executive committee to be led by Mr Eyo Eyo, for their support throughout the tenure.

“I pledge my full support as immediate past chairman to a seamless transition and support in the forthcoming events of the forum.

“I charge members to remain steadfast in the forum’s commitment to building a greater corporate Nigeria by enriching the competencies and skills of young entrepreneurs and director,” she said.

Alhaji Tijjani Borodo, President, CIoD, said the event marked not just a leadership transition, but a renewal of the institute’s commitment to the development and entrenchment of good corporate governance and ethical leadership in young directors.

Borodo urged members of the YDF to entrench the tenet of good governance and transparent leadership in young and upcoming industry leaders and leaders in the public sector.

“The Institute, therefore, expects members of the YDF to embody the core value of our Institute, which is IMPACT – meaning: Integrity, Meritocracy, Professionalism, Accountability, Customer-centricity, and Teamwork.

“I congratulate the inaugural executive committee for the wonderful pioneering work they did to keep the aspiration of the Institute alive in the last two years,” he said.

Borodo reminded the new YDF leadership on the significant responsibility they were saddled with that required dedication, passion, and tenacity.

He expressed belief in their potential to drive initiatives that would foster collaboration among young directors, enhance skills development, and promote best practices in corporate governance.
