Boat Mishap: Actors Guild Suspends All Riverine Movie Shoots With Boat Riding

  • Nollywood observes 24-hour break to mourn victims

Following the tragic incident of boat mishap that claimed the life of Mr John Paul Odonwodo aka Junior Pope and four other crew members at waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on Wednesday, the Actors Guild of Nigeria has indefinitely suspended all movie shooting involving boat riding.

Meanwhile, the Nollywood industry will observe a 24-hour break from all movie shooting nationwide to mourn the victims.

The National President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rolas MON, disclosed this in a  press statement disseminated earlier today.

Recall that Junior Pope and four other crew members on a movie set titled “The other side of Life” produced by Adamma Luke, were victims of a boat mishap on Wednesday.

Consequently, the Leadership of the Guild issued the following directives: “All Films that involve riverine areas and boat riding is hereby suspended indefinitely.”

“No Shoot on all locations Nationwide on Thursday 11th April 2024”

“The film titled ‘Another side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely. No actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice”

While the relevant authorities keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, the Guild prayed for the deceased souls and their families.
