The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abia State Council, State Information Chapel, has commended the appointment of veteran journalist, Mr. Charles Ifenkwe as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
In a press statement, the media group also joined the management and staff of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, in welcoming the newly posted Permanent Secretary, describing his posting as a timely home coming, and a welcome development that will be result oriented.
The press release jointly endorsed by the Chairman, Information Chapel of NUJ, Abia State, Comrade Elizabeth Onyeali, and the Assistant Secretary, Comrade Deacon Nkem Onyekere, also noted that with the appointment the Ministry is having a thorough-bred, consummate and highly cerebral journalist and can expect greater impetus in the activities of the Ministry and the State at large.
The Union described the Permanent Secretary, Ifenkwe, as a renowned journalist who will bring his wealth of experience to the new role and therefore lead to reinvigorating the Ministry.
“It has become obvious that the present administration of Governor Alex Chioma Oti, is highly focused and result oriented, by placing experienced professionals in line Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. This administration is prepared and determined in taking all the sectors in the state to higher heights,” the statement read.
The Union, however, assured Ifenkwe of its unwavering support towards making his tenure of office eventful, and prayed for God’s grace and guidance upon him and the Ministry.
