The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria is set to bring policymakers, industry operators, investors, academics and other stakeholders together in Abuja to develop practical solutions for transforming Nigeria’s transport and logistics systems and strengthening their contribution to economic growth.
The 2026 CILT Nigeria National Conference, scheduled for October 21–23 at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, will focus on the theme, “Transforming Nigeria’s Transport and Logistics Systems for Shared Prosperity and Sustainable Infrastructure.”
The Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has been announced as the Special Guest of Honour, while Professor Ayo Omotayo, Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), is expected to lead the keynote discourse.
Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Professor Kayode Oyesiku, FCILT, announced the programme on Wednesday at a pre-conference press briefing held at the NIMASA Resource Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos. He was represented at the briefing by Professor Ogochukwu Ugboma.
Oyesiku said the conference was designed as a solutions-oriented platform to move discussions on Nigeria’s transport and logistics challenges from diagnosis to practical interventions.
He said Governor Uzodimma’s participation would bring a state-level perspective to discussions on transport and logistics development, particularly the need to translate national policies into effective implementation across the states.
According to him, the conference will examine critical issues including sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure, digital transformation, smart logistics, multimodal connectivity, governance and policy reform, infrastructure financing, human-capital development, professional excellence, inclusive mobility and logistics for national development.
The conference is expected to attract policymakers, regulators, transport and logistics operators, investors, academics, technology providers, development partners, students and young professionals.
Oyesiku said the programme would also feature academic paper presentations, a NEXT-GEN Hour for students and young professionals, a conference dinner and awards ceremony, and a technical field tour designed to connect policy discussions with operational realities.
He added that a communiqué containing key recommendations and implementation commitments would be issued at the conclusion of the conference.
The CILT Nigeria leadership said the focus on transport and logistics was critical to national economic performance, given the sector’s influence on food distribution, business competitiveness, employment, road safety, trade, investment and productivity.
Oyesiku therefore urged transport and logistics companies, professional associations, unions, regulators, researchers, investors, technology firms, development partners, the media and members of the public to participate actively in the conference.
