South West Commission MD Loses Sister

The Managing Director of the South West Development Commission (SWDC), Dr Charles Diji Akinola, has lost his sister, Olori Rachael Olanike Ogunleye.

Olori Ogunleye passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 66.

Her passing was jointly announced by the Ogunleye Royal Family of Akinale-Owu and the Ogidan-Akinola Family of Ilesa, Osun State.

Olori Olanike was the wife of the late Kabiyesi, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale-Owu, and served as the matriarch of the Ogunleye Royal Family.

A distinguished educationist and child development expert, built a remarkable career in Nigeria’s education sector.

She taught at Grange School, St Saviours School, and St Saviours School, where she was widely respected for her dedication to academic excellence and character development.

Olori Olanike later served as Headmistress of Corona School, as well as its Apapa and Gbagada campuses, and was Acting Principal of Corona Secondary School.

At the time of her passing, she was the Manager in charge of Tourism and Museum, and Head of Administration and Procurement at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.

She is survived by her children, Subulade, Tewogbade, Damilola, Olumide, Bunmi, Funke, and Dele, and her siblings, including Mrs Jumoke Akinkoye, Dr Charles Diji Akinola, and Sir Gbola Akinola, SAN.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
