A frontline Customs Broker, Mr. Emmanuel Onyeme, has stated that the tenure extension of the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will help to stabilize and streamline international trade practices as well as give policy direction to stakeholders in the clearing and forwarding profession.
Onyeme, who is the National Publicity Secretary (NPS) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and CEO of Aug Nigerian Limited, a Customs Licensed firm, commended the transformational drives the CGC has brought to bear in areas of revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling, stakeholders engagement, customs modernization and National security, among others.
“I want to join other well meaning Nigerians to congratulate CGC Adewale Adeniyi for his tenure extension. In fact we were worried that if Mr. President did not grant such request, most of the transformational achievements recorded by the CGC would have been eroded.
“Honestly, give it to the Customs CG, he has achieve a lot within the two years of his tenure and he needed more time like the President stated to complete the critical reforms he has started in all stratas of the NCS and the international trade value chain”.
Onyeme also sent his felicitations to the Customs CG on his election as the Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council, stating that for the first time a Nigerian is being elected into the world stage as number one Customs officer in the world.
“I have absolute confidence in the Comptroller-General’s managerial competence with his officers, and as one of those on the field I know that this extension will benefit and improve stakeholders engagement and their businesses,” Onyeme said.
